During the January 19th edition of Impact Wrestling, we saw the return of the “Iconic” Matt Hardy, turned villain, defeat EC3 for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. This was a welcomed turn, as Hardy began to become stagnant in TNA wrestling. The change was facilitated by his wife Reby Sky, who told Matt what he had to do and he even picked off EC3’s muscle Tyrus in the process of his heel turn.

The turn of Hardy created many different directions the company can go in regards to him and the TNA World Title. After a savage beating at the hands of Hardy during the title match, EC3 is at the top of the list for a rematch for the strap. The one reservation with a match between the two, they have faced no less than six times in as many months (one match was a triple threat match at the 2015 Bound for Glory). That is a lot of matches between two wrestlers in that span of time. It would seem that having the newly minted babyface EC3 chase after Hardy for a while and build crowd support for his rematch and possible dethroning of “Big Money” Matt is the best way to go for a guy who is trying to become a crowd favorite.
