ntroduced in 1979, the popular sports coupe RX-7 by Mazda was a stand out in the luxury segment. A unique feature of this flagship of Mazda was the design of the engine. While all other engines were driven by pistons, the RX-7 was built with a rotary engine. Technology brought lighter and faster cars over the years, till in 1995 the last of the series premiered in 1993. The performance was considered the ultimate with the classy cat reaching an acceleration of 0-60 miles per hour in five seconds flat. Aggressive styling and a flowing design has still made it the best looking sports car of the 1990s.The hefty price tag of a $30,000 made the sales lag in '95 but is still considered a super performing car with a hint of a comeback in 2017.
