This is something that is very important to me. Until 1938 marijuana was one of the most prescribed medicines in America. Why? Because it works. It doesn't work for just one thing, it works for a multitude of health issues. From migraines to glaucoma and cancer, the little plant that is now a federal sentence for anyone that possesses it was prescribed. For cancer this little plant eases pain, eliminates nausea, and helps the body to fight the cancer. The plant that is so very illegal to possess helps those suffering with glaucoma to fight off nausea that can some times occur, and ease the headaches that also can some times occur.
I know from personal experience that marijuana kills a migraine faster than any thing else available. I suffer from migraines. A migraine is Not just another headache. Anyone that can ask, "What is a migraine?" and mean that question can count their blessings they've never been blinded by pain. Never been made to vomit so hard it feels like your stomach is trying to exit your body through your mouth. Never been in so much pain that the smallest noise causes you to want to just die.
There are medications on the market for this. For those that these medications work for, you are lucky. For me? They don't work. I get to vomit, and then have an even worse migraine than before I took the medication. Excedrin works, but I have to catch the migraine while it's still forming, then follow up with an hour or two of sleep. Otherwise all I'm going to get is a slight decrease in pain. With marijuana it doesn't matter when I use the medicine within the migraine.
After two puffs on a marijuana cigarette I can lay down for an hour or two, and when I wake up the migraine is gone. The nausea is gone. I'm not suffering. When pain is severe enough, and long lasting enough that suicide begins to look like a reasonable option to get rid of the pain with there is something seriously wrong. There is something seriously wrong with the American Healthcare that actively works to keep valid medicine out of the hands of people that are suffering. So I will be a loud mouth on this. I will lobby for this. I will insist on medical marijuana being made legal. It just is not logical for anyone to be forced to suffer because nothing else will work to kill the pain.
