Everyone was hyped like last month when CAPCOM decided to re-release the first six Rockman/Mega Man games on mobile. The games mentioned were from the Famicom/NES library. The first six games was re-released for the Rockman Complete Works on the PS1, then on the PS2 under the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (this includes 7 and 8), and re-released as the Rockman Classics Collection/Mega Man Legacy Collection for the Nintendo 3DS.
I played these games many years ago with an emulator for the Famicom/NES and I became a fan of this franchise. Today, the franchise is still alive with fans making their own games, strong fanbases, and others are still hoping for CAPCOM to release another game (not to mention Mighty No. 9).
The games were released separately today on Google Play Store but it wasn't for free, but then I searched for Google if someone uploaded the apk file for the six games just to play it for free. I downloaded the first game and as soon as I play it, I was disappointed.
These are what I observed:
- There's a Normal and Hard mode for each game
- Slow frame rate
- If you die, there's always the screen showing the lives left before continuing as opposed to as you die, the game will continue immediately
- But the good thing is, when Rock is hit by an enemy, he will not be pushed too far unlike in the original games
But still I uninstalled the game, and prefer to play them in an emulator on the PC. I know it's one way of CAPCOM of introducing the franchise to the newer generations, but instead of doing it, why not make a new game like the fandom do in order to keep the franchise alive? Or instead of having you to buy those six games, they should have make it free to download.
They released a mobile game 5 years ago, entitled Rockman Xover, but that didn't do well.
I just hope in the future that they will hear the petitions of us fans to release new games like Rockman 11, Rockman X9, Rockman DASH 3 and the likes.
