Kerala in India is faced with the menace of stray dogs and dog bite cases as more than one lakh people have been bitten by dogs in 2014-15 in the state, So, the state government held a meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister to discuss the problem and find ways to overcome it. Though the law allows culling of dangerous dogs, culling alone is not the only way. Hence, a multi-pronged strategy would be adopted. On one hand, there would be sterilisation of stray dogs at special camps and on the other 50 new centres would be opened to handle animal birth control measures. Hope the strategy works for the state.
