The Mitsubishi 3000 GT, also known as the Mitsubishi GTO, was built by the Japanese auto motive giants Mitsubishi Motors between the years 1990 to 2001. The car was called GTO in home markets while it was known as the 3000 GT in most of the export markets. GTO originally stood for Gran Turismo Omologato and the 3000 GT got its name from the Gallant GTO, which was named after the Ferrari GTO. Chrysler initially sold the car in North America under the Dodge Stealth captive import badge. The models were nearly the same with a slight difference of some basic design exterior principles.
