A Mosque is a place of prayer and worship for the Muslims, Azan the call for prayer, is called five times a day from the Mosque. Jumah prayer and Eid prayerare also offered in big Mosque. A Mosque not only serves as a place of worship but also as a place of learning. Through out the ages Mosque have been centers of learning and education following the traditions set by the Holly Prophet(S.W.A) and his compainions.
The muslim rulers constructed magnificent Mosque. These Mosque reflect the grandeur and glory of Islam. While constructing a mosque muslim follow the model of the Masjid-e-Nabvi. This Mosque has been founded and built by the Holly Prophet (S.W.A). At the time of prayers all the believers turn their faces to the direction of Kaaba stands in Makka. The Kaaba has been constructed by Hazrat Abrahim (A.S) and his sun Hazrat Ismail (A.S). This is the first place of worship of God on this earth. All the Mosque are constructed in the direction of Holy Kaaba.
During the Muslim rule in Indo Pakistan Sub-Continent many grand Mosque have been built . Among these, Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, is one of the master pieces of architectured superior decoration. The Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is in fact a continuity of this glorious tradition. Neither wordsnor photographs can capture its splended. The Faisel Mosque has also made its mark as a centre of knowledge. An International Islamic university is housed at the ground floor of the Faisal Mosque. A mosque is the hall mark of an islamic society which is not only a place of worship but a seat of learning also.
