New ‘Zootopia’ Trailer and Clips Address the Giant Elephant in the Room
by Britt Hayes 4 hours ago
Disney
Disney’s next animated release is Zootopia, and while the trailers have yet to really sell this thing (save for a couple of solid sight gags), the studio has released two new clips along with the final trailer to get you in the mood for some wacky animal shenanigans. You can watch the full trailer above and check out the two clips below, which do a better job of conveying the film’s sense of humor.

‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ Star Mary Elizabeth Winstead Talks About J.J. Abrams’ Secret Project
by Britt Hayes 4 hours ago
Paramount
J.J. Abrams pulled off some pretty effortless misdirection, keeping us all so occupied with Star Wars: The Force Awakens that we had no idea about this little indie project he was producing titled 10 Cloverfield Lane. The trailer arrived with no warning, followed by Abrams confirming that the film is indeed related to Cloverfield, though it’s not really a direct sequel. One of the stars of his new mystery project is Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who has opened up just a tiny bit about the secrecy surrounding the film and what we can expect when it hits theaters.

There Will Also Be a Dystopian ‘Robin Hood’ Movie, Thanks to the Producers of ‘300’
by Britt Hayes 4 hours ago
Warner Bros.
It’s getting hard to keep track of all the different Robin Hood movies currently in development, and since not one of them has hit theaters as of yet, it’s difficult to say if Robin Hood will be the Next Big Thing or if Hollywood is just trying too hard to make him happen. Add yet another Robin Hood movie to the pile, as the producers behind 300 are giving us the futuristic, dystopian version of the character, which actually sounds nothing like Robin Hood at all.

Presidents: they’re just like us. And by that I mean that they also enjoy settling in to relax and watch a movie after a long day of signing bills and organizing our nation’s taxes. Like Presidents Nixon, Carter and Reagan before him, we now have a list of every film Bill Clinton watched while he was in office, from the good to the obvious to the enjoyably bad and everything in between.

Nicolas Winding Refn Teams With ‘James Bond’ Writers for Asian Action Thriller
by Britt Hayes 5 hours ago
FilmDistrict
Nicolas Winding Refn is currently in post-production on his next stylish thriller, The Neon Demon, which hits theaters this year and boasts an incredible cast, including Drive star Christina Hendricks. But the ever-busy director is already lining up his next project, which will team him with two of the writers behind the James Bond franchise and take him back to Asia, the setting of his divisive thriller Only God Forgives.

Liam Neeson to Star in ‘The Commuter,’ His Fourth Film With Director Jaume Collet-Serra
by Britt Hayes a day ago
Liam Neeson is to director Jaume Collet-Serra what Leonardo DiCaprio is to Martin Scorsese. Neeson has become the action-dad-icon muse for Collet-Serra, who has just cast the leading man in yet another action film. The Commuter marks the fourth collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, following Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night — all of which form a sort of informal trilogy of films in which Neeson plays a man burdened by his past who battles criminal elements while rocking a seriously sweet leather jacket.

‘Alien: Covenant’ Will Not Bring Back Noomi Rapace After All
by Britt Hayes a day ago
20th Century Fox
Although Ridley Scott recently said that Noomi Rapace would reprise her role — albeit briefly — as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Alien: Covenant, the director has now determined that the actress will actually not be returning for the upcoming Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel. Many assumed we might see how her ill-advised adventure with Michael Fassbender’s David panned out, though it’s fair to assume that things didn’t go so well.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Is the Highest-Testing Marvel Film Since ‘The Winter Soldier’
by Britt Hayes a day ago
Marvel
Not that you were particularly worried or anything, but Marvel’s recent test screenings for Captain America: Civil War have yielded the most positive audience reactions since The Winter Soldier. Previously, the second Captain America film had received the highest marks at test screenings, which sounds about right considering that it’s the best MCU film to date. Could Civil War be even better?

by Britt Hayes a day ago
We’re still waiting for more of an official update on what trailers we can expect to see during this year’s Super Bowl, but there’s one film that will definitely have a big presence at the game. Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With the Mouth will be on hand for the 2016 Super Bowl on February 7, with Fox planning some special preview content to run during and around the game. In addition, the studio has released a new clip, featuring Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead packing a serious punch.

Yes, There Is a ‘Cabin Fever’ Remake and Here’s the Trailer to Prove It
by Britt Hayes a day ago
IFC Midnight
The trailer for the remake of Eli Roth’s campy horror classic Cabin Fever is less of a trailer, and more of an existential exercise in futility. To wit: what is the point of remaking a film if you’re just re-using the shooting script from the original? Perhaps Travis Zariwny’s remake isn’t an earnest attempt to re-adapt Roth’s original film, but instead to hold a mirror up to the Hollywood factory-culture of remakes that ultimately feel pointless and achieve far less than their superior predecessors. Or maybe this is just another dumb remake.
