Mumbai Metro
Mumbai metro system is design to reduce traffic congestion in city and to reduce overcrowd of local trains. Mumbai Metro is a joint venture of three big companies Reliance Infrastructure, Veolia Transport and the MMRDA. It was inaugurate in 2006, by the PM of India S.M. Singh. The Mumbai Metro project is to be complete around 2021. The 1st line was stated on 8 June 2014 for public. Line 1 is from Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar this route consist of 12 stations. It is the part of Rapid transit System of Mumbai. Mumbai has the first metro in India that has a real time surveillance security camera. There are 700 CCTV across metro stations and it also has x-ray baggage scanner and hand held explosive detectors. Mumbai needs Metro because of the rapid growth of population. The Metro is schedule as Monday to Saturday headway between each train will 4 minutes in peak hours and 8 minutes for non-peak hours. And on Sunday and other public holidays it will be 8 minutes. First train starts at 05:35 am from Versova and 5:31 am from Ghatkopar. And the last train leaving from Versova is at 11:12 pm and from Ghatkopar is at 11:39 pm.
