We all love our mothers. As a believer in Islam and surrounded by the beliefs and practices of this renowned world religion, I’m sure we can all agree that one of the most important people in the Islamic religion is the role of the mother and our utmost and devoted respect for our moms.
The Islamic religion takes the role of the mother figure above all other roles or positions within the family as stated in the Qu’ran and commonly practiced by all believers in Islam.
Just to give you guys some proof from the writings and teachings of Islam to show you what I mean when I say Muslims truly love their mothers. Allah continuously states in our sacred writings, “Worship God and join not any partners with Him; and be kind to your parents” (Noble Qu’ran 4:36).
But Allah does not stop there; he specifically recognizes the importance and our obligation to love, honor, value and respect our mothers specifically before all else; they have suffered through many months of child bearing, the pains of delivering and further sometimes painful responsibilities during the initial years of child rearing as our mothers are expected provide breast milk for nourishment.
According to one of the very many sacred writings, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) distinctly stated that the mother is above all other family member in standing and gave more rights to the mother than any others.
According to the hadith he said, “Do good to and serve your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then the near relatives and then those who come after them.”
Muslims have a continuous obligation to their parents as they are forever indebted to their parents for bringing them onto this wonderful Earth, giving them life and going through the hardships of nurturing and raising us, specifically our mothers as our fathers do not experience the pains of bearing and delivering babies.
All in all across all cultures and religions, I’m sure we can all agree that our mothers are very important to us and we will love and cherish them throughout our entire lifetimes; they’re just so amazing!
