Young sensation Mustafizur Rahman picked up 5 wickets again on his second One day match against the much vaunted batting line up of India. This is the second time a bowler picked up consecutive five wicket hauls in his first 2 matches in ODI history.
After the last match it was expected that the Indian line up would come hard at the Bangladesh bowlers in particular Mustafizur. With the second ball of his first over, that expectation was laid to rest as he bowled a good length delivery which Rohit Sharma hit straight in point’s hands. Shabbir Rahman picked up a wonderful catch.
For the next few overs, he did beat the bat, but was also a bit expensive. When he came back, India were recovering from the early setbacks courtesy of Dhoni and Raina. He removed the latter with a slow bouncer, and then got the big wicket of Dhoni and Axar Patel off consecutive deliveries. It was great to see him running in and bowl with such venom. He did deserve the fifth wicket, as he bowled a lovely cutter to Ravichandran Ashwin. He could have got more had the multiple deliveries beating the bat somehow caught the edge before going to the keeper.
Rain arrived just before he bowled the last ball of his quota, but by that time his figures read 5/43.
And after rain ended, he was back to bowling his last delivery and he bowled Ravindra Jadeja off the delivery, getting his sixth wicket.
Mustafizur has indeed arrived.
