When I was a child my hero on TV hero was Marshal Matt Dillon on the western prime time show , "Gunsmoke". The show was the longest running prime time show in the USA from 1955- 1975. This show ran on CBS network and was loved by many. Matt Dillon was portrayed by the great James Arness.

Previously the show was on the radio where the actor William Conrad voice acted the part of Marshall Dillon.

 

There were many great actors and actresses that played regular parts on the series such as Amanda Blake as Kitty Russell, Milburn Stone as Doc Adams, Ken Curtis as Festus Haggan, Burt Reynolds as Quint Asper, Chester by Dennis Weaver, Buck Taylor as Newley,Glenn Strange as Sam and Roger Ewing as Thad Greenwood and many more .Including many great actors and actresses doing guest apperances.
