My first day in Women's annex

Posted on at

Today, after the classes, as I hadn’t have any breakfast in the morning, with my friend Hadya we decided to go to the cafeteria and pick something to eat. Taking steps towards the CF, we came across a friend telling us about some “weblog writing” process in some kind of online site. Despite the information given was incomplete, it sounded really interesting that we decided to join the group and go to the office, which was in less distance from our University.

Hamidullah, who was supposed to be our “Guide”, didn’t actually know the place, so we were lost. Imagine 8, 9 girls and 2 boys, walking around the streets and knocking the wrong doors and mostly, the combination of pretty, stylish girls putting their sunglasses on, sitting in a corner, starving in the neighborhood of “garbages”, inhalirating each particle of the dust coming from the street…I think it is not a day you would dream of having at the first day of a week, but can’t say it was less Funny.

After long process of waiting and walking, we could find the office. Finally!.

Ms.Roya, which I guess was the director, warmly welcomed us and explained everything about the Women’s annex.

I guess right now I am supposed to write an essay about the Women’s annex, which due to no internet service in my house at the moment, I can’t.

As much as I could catch from Ms.Roya’s explanations, I think it is a channel for women’s empowerment within and outside of central and south Asia. It trains women in 2 regions (filmmaking, weblog writing). The goal of this network, which is the key separator of it from other social networking sites, is that the user is being paid for whatever he/she contributes to the site, which I think is amazing because, putting aside the economic side, I think the users are being appreciated for the abilities they have, and that is exactly what I need. In my opinion, foundation like this for women in Afghanistan, especially for people like me who has millions of things going on in their mind but can’t really have the courage to say it to the world, is a Golden opportunity.

At the end of the day, I think getting a chance to be a trainy in Women’s annex was worth all those starvings and confusions ….
