I visited the Pyramids of Giza when I used to live in Cyprus. It was an interesting place to see. Have you ever been there?
A friend and I, took a day trip to Cairo in Egypt from Paphos Airport in Cyprus during the month of August a few years ago. Of course, I don't recommend going sight seeing in August if you are planning to visit Egypt. The heat was unbearable that day.
My experience at the Pyramids of Giza was an interesting one. We went inside one of the pyramids shown in my photo above. It had been a very tight space going down the steps inside the pyramid. The ceiling was low, so we had to crouch down whilst trying to get to the bottom. Once we were at the bottom, it felt terribly hot, but somehow we felt we could manage it. Just being inside was a great experience for us. We looked at the tomb and felt a kind of serene pleasantness surrounding us.
Of course, our pleasantness was about to be interrupted, because as I was coming back up the steps from the pyramid, a thief tried to put his hand inside my bag to steal my purse. I pulled my bag in front of me and told my friend what was happening. Once we got to the top, we ran to our coach and told the person in charge there, but the thief had disappeared by this time.
I remembered this incident when I was looking through my photos this morning, so it lead me to write about it. I remembered, how it had been such a lovely day until someone had to go and ruin it.
