Naif Hazazi, nicknamed El Saqr (‘The Falcon’ in Arabic), is one of the prominent rising stars in Arab football and is Saudi Arabia's first striker. He is also considered by many to be the most talented Saudi striker since Majed Abdullah. Hazazi plays for Al-Ittihad and the Saudi national team as a striker. He has also been compared to Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, owing to his excellent heading ability and spirit.
He started his career with Al-Ittihad in 2006, progressing through its youth system to the first team squad. From 2008, the team had begun to rely on Hazazi as a regular first team striker. He went on to play for his country against Thailand in 2008 at the mere age of 19, and was the one to score the qualification goal by header against United Arab Emirates in 2009, making a final score of 3–2.
Hazazi was part of the 2010 Saudi Qualification squad for FIFA World Cup and appeared in the fourth round in the tournament against Iran and the UAE. In his second match against Iran, with only 11 minutes remaining, Hazazi calmly converted the equaliser that ignited one of his country's most famous comebacks in history!
In 2013, Hazazi transferred from Al-Ittihad to Al-Shabab to continue his impressive career. The following year he scored a phenomenal seven goals in eight appearances. He has since landed a spot on the Saudi Arabian national team in the AFC Asian Cup, and was signed by Al-Nassr FC, one of Saudia Arabia’s most popular clubs.
