Today, January 22nd, is National Blonde Brownie Day.
Brownies usually contain chocolate, which accounts for both their name, chocolate brownie, and their brown colour.
Blonde brownies, or blondies, do not use cocoa as their major ingredient (although they may contain chocolate chips), and are therefore not brown in colour but are instead of a more yellow colour - "blonde" in other words.
Where a normal brownie would use cocoa, a blondie will use brown sugar. They also include flour, butter, eggs, baking powder and vanilla. Other ingredients, such as the aforementioned chocolate chips or chopped nuts, especially walnuts and pecans , can also be added
