Today, September 19th, is National Butterscotch Pudding Day.
Butterscotch, in its most widely known form, is a type of hard sweet (candy). It is made primarily using butter and brown sugar, although other ingredients can be used.
Butterscotch is also the name used for the flavour of brown sugar and butter when used together. This is how butterscotch pudding gets its name.
As could be therefore expected, the pudding uses brown sugar and butter. This is often an oven cooked pudding, but there are other recipes and methods of cooking, such as in a saucepan.
