Today, December 22nd, is (also) National Date Nut Bread Day.

This day is also celebrated on September 8th. Quite why there are two days in different months celebrating this type of bread I don't know, but there are a number of sources for both dates (no pun intended).

A sweet bread rather than a savoury one due to the presence of the fairly sugary dates, date-nut bread is still not as sweet as some bread types. Nuts of any suitable type can be used in the bread; there is no one specific type that must be used.
