Today, November 1st, is National Deep Fried Clams Day.
Clams are a bivalve molluscs, although not everything called a clam is edible. Varieties of clam are eaten in may different countries around the world. In North America, this is usually used for the Hard Clam, which is found along the eastern shores of the continent.
These hard clams are served raw on an open half shell in many places, but they can also be deep fried. The clams in this case would be removed from their shells and coated beaten eggs and then dipped in a seasoned mixture and then fried.
