This month, December, is National Egg Nog Month.
Egg nog, or eggnog is a drink often associated with the Christmas period and winter. The exact origin of the drink is unknown, but it may have originated from East Anglia in the UK.
This is a drink containing whipped eggs - to give a frothy texture - and milk or cream and sugar. Various alcoholic liqueurs such as brandy, whisky and rum are often added, as well as spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The eggs are supposed to be raw, but bought eggnog can run afoul of food and drink regulations, so they may be cooked or replaced.
