During imposed war in Afghanistan, radio as economical and cultural areas have deprived of imposed war and have lost all its technical assets as well as Taliban have destroyed all Pul e Charkh and Yaka Toots’ transmitters and we can claim that after conquer of Kabul from Taliban, there was no transmitter in Kabul Studios even a weak one.
Fortunately after fall of Taliban, these two cited studios were rehabilitated by donation of donor countries and new transmitters have installed in the mentioned radio stations which one of them that has donated by the government of Iran has installed in Pul e Charkhi; the other one which has 400 kilo watts power and has donated by the IBB organization of USA has also installed in Pul e Charkhi and another one with 100 kilo watts power and short frequency which has donated by government of India has installed and configured in Yaka Toot radio station.
In 2003 two radio studios including record and edit room built by donation of BBC and in the end of 2004 two more record and edit studios made by RFI.
After establishment of transitive government of Afghanistan one medium frequency transmitter with power of 50 kilo watts has configured in Mazar e Shaif by donation of Iran.
It is mentionable that by donations of BBC, IBB and RFI; FM radio frequencies have expanded throughout the country.
At the present time Radio Afghanistan has 32 hours and 30 minutes broadcasting in a day through two channels. In addition to this in 2004, 2005 and 2006 years training courses were held in Journalism and Radio engineering sections by donation of International Radio of France also Radio Afghanistan news department has equipped and has reconstructed by these donations.
Abroad broadcasting of National Radio which was stopped after 1992, by donations of donor countries started it activities again in 2005.
After selected government of Afghanistan, National Radio could attract Italian government donations and via these Kabul, Qandahar, Balk and Heart Studios have equipped by internet network and News Center of Kabul has also equipped with modern instruments and equipments.
In order to importance of National Radio’s archive, digitalization project of this radio started by donations of INA in 2006 and around 45,000 instruments have digitalized.
After 2002 Afghanistan Radio Television changed its name to RTA and after 2006 RTA started to international broadcastings.
RTA is a media which its director selects by Culture Minister of Afghanistan. According to the new laws this organization (RTA) is neither governmental nor private; rather it is a public media which only its fund is paying by the government of Afghanistan.
This organizing having one entire TV network and one entire radio network, in addition to these two all over networks, RTA is having local radios and TV’s in every province.
