Today, October 19th, is National Seafood Bisque Day.
Bisques are a type of soup that originated in France. They are highly seasoned and are smooth and creamy.
Bisques are traditionally made from different types of seafood and shellfish anyway, so calling one a seafood bisque is a bit redundant, although Spanish bisques often contained meat and game rather than seafood. Occasionally, some soups made from vegetables are also referred to as bisques.
