Atlanta Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha is on trial in New York City for obstruction, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Sefolosha and his teammate Pero Antic had been partying with ex-New York Knick star Chris Copeland at Manhattan hot-spot 1OAK on April 8 when Copeland began arguing with a gal pal outside the club. When a stranger tried to intervene, Copeland snapped at him and then that same guy ended up stabbing Copeland.
During the altercation cops said Sefolosha called one cop a midget and eventually lunged at an officer and resisted arrest during the fight. Sefolosha fractured a bone in his right leg that sidelined him the rest of the regular season and playoffs last year. Similar charges against Antic were later dropped, but Sefolosha rejected the same plea deal and stated his innocence.
If convicted Sefolosha could face up to a year in jail! Check out Bouncer Chronicles for the latest on this developing story.
