New York Underage Drinking Bill

Posted on at

The New York State Liquor Authority discovered that 26 Bronx retailers sold booze to minors after a one week sting targeting sales to underage drinkers. According to Bouncer Chronicles, State Senate Co-Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) and Assemblyman Marco Crespo (D-Bronx) are calling for even stronger laws to dry up underage drinking sales.

Some of the proposals officials are pushing for include retailers confiscating fake ID cards and encouraging merchants to purchase scanners to check for fake ID’s. One of the proposals would also increase fines and community service time for underage minors who are caught purchasing alcohol.

National data reveals that almost 30 percent of underage drinkers paid for their own liquor!
