Fifty people were killed and fifty three others injured on Sunday when a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The gunman was lone and was identified as Omar Mateen, 29, a Florida resident and US citizen who was the son of immigrants from Afghanistan. Police finally killed him. Before the attacks, the gunman swore allegiance to the Islamic State. The Islamic State too has claimed that he was a "fighter" from their group but so far there is no indication that the Islamic State had trained or instructed him, or had any direct connection with him.
