Right from the Kumar Sanu music video “Tera Mera Pyaar” till the recent Cadbury Silk advertisement amidst the snow – this girl makes us smile whenever we see her, isn’t it? Nimrat Kaur is one of those hidden all in packages in the Bollywood industry who doesn’t do many assignments and the viewers don’t see her much but when they do they love it without a doubt.
She started off her career as a stage actress, working under various topnotch directors such as Manav Kaul and Sunil Shanbag. In the year 2004, her first silver screen project came along with the Indipop album “Tera Mera Pyaar” which was sung by Shreya Ghosal and Kumar Sanu. Since then there was no looking back for her.
Her English debut ‘One Night with the King,’ was made in the year 2006 where she had a small part to act. But her Hindi debut which took place in 2012 was a class apart, and was screened in the Cannes Film Festival where it got good reviews from the critics. The movie was named ‘Peddlers’ and the director was none other than Anurag Kashyap. After this movie, her excellent performance in the movie ‘The Lunchbox’ was raved about by both the critics and the audience.
Her big break came recently. She will be playing the ISI agent in the Homeland Season 4. Her character is called Tasneem Kureshi and she will be playing the character of an opponent to the very famous actress, Claire Danes in the Season 4 of Homeland. Nimrat along with the “Life of Pi” actor Suraj Sharma are the new additions of this season’s Homeland.
Shooting for the mega series made this Patiala girl quite a bit out of her area of comfort but still she took it as a challenge. She got into the audition of Homeland completely by chance and by sheer luck, says the ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’ actress.
