The young Delhi woman who was brutally gang-raped, tortured and killed by six rapists in a moving bus in the capital on December 16, 2012 came to be known as "Nirbhaya" meaning fearless to the whole nation. The country roared in anger when the incident came to light and "Nirbhaya" became a symbol for India's fight to check crimes against women.
