Zhang Jiucheng, a farmer in Gansu in northwest China, has built his own plane. Made from steel, the plane is 1.5 meters high, 3.5 meters long and has a wingspan of 7 meters. The plane costs 20,000 yuan (about 3,000 USD). Zhang is currently assembling the plane, and hopes to take it for a trial flight soon.

There have been a number of reports of other farmers in many parts of the country, including Henan and Hunan provinces, who have been inspired to build home-made aircraft – often at little cost and using simple, discarded materials such as an old motorcycle engine, sheets of plywood and pieces of plastic.
>>>In 2015, a farmer in Henan built a aircraft that looked like a Boeing 737 and turned it into a restaurant.
