North Korea's un-Predictable Dictator!

Posted on at

Dynasty characteristic or family gene? Kim Jong-un is already living up to his name. After somewhat 'un'-expectedly agreeing to freeze North Korea's nuclear program, Kim Jong-"un"-predictably announced a satellite launch that would be inconsistent with the moratorium on missile tests. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, a former South Korea foreign minister, urged the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to reconsider its decision to launch the so-called “application satellite” next month and fully comply with relevant Security Council resolutions. The DPRK had just announced it plans to carry out the launch in April to mark the 100th birthday of its late leader, Kim Il-sung.“The Secretary-General urges the DPRK to reconsider its decision in line with its recent undertaking to refrain from long-range missile launches.” Mr. Ban reiterated that North Korea “fully comply with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council,” particularly resolution 1874 of 2009 which bans “any launch using ballistic missile technology.” That resolution imposed additional sanctions on DPRK after previous demands that the country not conduct any further nuclear or missile tests went unheeded. "Un-doubtedly" more to "un"-predictability to come! (Sorry, could not resist one more "un"diplomatic cheap humor pun-"un"derstandable if you tune me out).
