North Viet Nam braces for Typhoon Kalmaegi

Posted on at

Typhoon Kalmaegi hit the East Sea this morning with winds speeds of 113 kilometres per hour, said the Viet Nam National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The centre forecast that in the next 24 hours, the typhoon, the third to hit Viet Nam this year, will move to the north of the Gulf of Tonkin as wind speeds increase to 149 kilometres per hour.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain in the north, especially in Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City, from tomorrow to Thursday.

The Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control yesterday asked localities to implement measures to protect the residents and their properties from the storm.
