Not yet old but I am old.

I sang old songs.

They say that I talk like an old age woman.

I see more beyond everything.

I have some explanations ready.

I prefer to be alone most of the time.

I got the thing that they call, OLD SOUL. There is nothing wrong with having it, it is actually something I can be proud to have within me. They say, having an old soul is understands more, and appreciate more than another soul in this world. I often read between the lines.

There were times that I take some lines from books and interpret them deeply, connects it with life, that some people who can hear me sating those will either ask me how old am I to have that kind of thoughts. Not to mention my interest fro older stuffs. And my circle of friends? They are much older than me, I prefer to have those ages as my circle of friends.

It was something I didn't know or have no idea of before until someone told me,I have an OLD SOUL.

OLD SOUL and OLD SONGS

When I was younger, I always prefer to listen to songs of Engelbert Humperdinck, thinking that it was my father's influence since he always sings them like it was our lullaby, but as I grow older, my preference to old songs was never gone.

There was this line that I read from a book, look for it and found our that it was a song. I was hooked into that song. The song is "Mr. Sandman" by The Chordettes. I was surprised that the song was way back 1954, and it was beyond my years, way beyond.

My library in the music app Spotify, I have a long playlist for old songs, whether from a foreign singer to the local ones. Though I listen to the latest hits, I always go back to those old songs, for I feel like the lyrics are poetic, and it means a lot. Yes, I can have my own interpretation with the song lyrics.

OLD SOUL with BOOKS

My preference with books and authors might have a connection with me, having an old soul. At my age, I should be reading with romance novels or something that is written by Danielle Steel, but I don't. I have read romance novels, but I ondly read them once. And never keep them.

I keep Paulo Coehlo's and Mitch Albom's.

Why them?

I don't know how many times I have read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coehlo. That every time I read it, I feel like there is a different meaning for me. Think about of the lines that I kept or maybe have it tattooed on my mind. And my most favorite line and maybe most commonly used phrase, "waiting is painful, but not knowing what to do is the worst kind of suffering." I even use them when I have been waiting for my turn in the bank.

On Mitch Albom, I learned a lot from his books/novels. From Morrie Schwarts' to Frankie Presto. There is so much to learn in reading his books. That it has something I always recommend fro friends to read. From his books, I always borrow lines that I can share, on a casual conversation to someone who needs some advice, especially when they just lost a loved one. My most used prase is, "Death ends life, not the relationship."

These two authors, whose books that I kept over the years has been like my life textbooks. And I remember last week when I visit my second hometown, a friend of mine opened up about the five people story, which eventually was written by Mitch Albom. This friend was surprised that I know the book and told him about what the book is about. Then he said, "now I know", telling me about why I talk like this old age woman, like I have experienced a lot about life.

But how will someone know about having an old soul?

Actually, we all have that old sould, some just don't notice it or recognize it, but we all have it. If you don't know about having it, here are some of the signs.

1. You always wanted to be alone. This doesn't mean you isolate yourself to others. It means, you tend to disassociate yourself to people whose interest and pursuits are different from yours. And I admit, the reason my start to "drift away" from the circle of friends I have ringt now, their interests is far different from what I really want and lately I prefer to work at home, just like the old times. Just me in the four corners of my room. I am alone but not lonely.

2. You love knowledge, wisdom and truth. We all, if not, most of us believed that knowledge is power, that wisdom is happiness and truth is freedom. That despite our easy access with what is happening in the world, we all still wanted that truth, trying not to listen or read to those gossips or with those what they call "FAKE NEWS".

3. Spiritually inclined. This about of St. Francis of Assisi's Prayer. I always keep  and sing that if I am close to losing my temper and get angry. Yes, I get angry easily, but I choose to  go to an open air adn clear my mind and my lungs, it always work for me. I always wanted to see peace, seek peace than witness a war.

4. Being thoughtful and introspective. We think more of about everything, that when we did something that isn't nice, we reflect on it. And try to avoid the same thing and casue no trouble. Not just that, stepping back, sit back and quietly observe what is happening and reflecting upon those obrservations.

5. Seeing the deeper picture. I remember about seeing the brighter side of what had happned, those unfortunate events have brought us more that what we expect in what we call, "perfect timing". That instead of getting frustrated, I see the brighter side of it.

6. Not materialistic. The world is full of material things that can really be tempting to spend our money with. From those gadgets that cost more than a month of salary, I prefer to keep those that I have. Thinking more of what should be invested than spent.

With the above mentioned signs, do you think you got an OLD SOUL too?
