With the staggering number of stabbings in New York City, police officials said they would increase police presence around 20 bars and clubs in the city. Mayor Bill DeBlasio's plan called "Operation Cutting Edge" will be focusing on the places where violence is taking place. According to Bouncer Chronicles, these crimes are occurring in and around nightclubs, during late nights or early mornings on the weekends.
Nearly 900 knife crimes have been recorded since January 1, an increase of over 22% over the same period in 2015. Nearly 25% of all knife crimes have occurred around 20 nightclubs and bars.
