Healthy, strong teeth enable you to look and feel good. Maintaining good oral hygiene is the most important thing you can do for your teeth and gums. For achieving an overall well-being, good oral health is most important.

Daily preventive care and methods could be adopted including proper brushing and flossing that will help stop problems before they grow and develop and is much less painful, expensive than treating conditions that have been allowed to progress.

Certain tips to be undertaken with concern to oral health:

1) Brushing and keeping your teeth neat and clean. Read and go through articles and other related write-ups related to oral health and care.

2) A healthy lifestyle, including eating well, no smoking and limiting your alcohol intake, is good for the whole body as well as teeth.

3) By establishing a good dental health routine one can have healthy teeth for a lifetime.

4) Its also important to have a regular check-up with your dentist. If a problem is detected earlier it becomes easier to treat and if not treated on time it may lead to other major problems.

5) A tongue scraper is an important part of oral hygiene that will also work wonders with stale, bad breath. Use it to remove the plaque on your tongue, which will freshen breath and presumably slow down the accumulation of plaque on your teeth. Alternatively, you can use a tongue cleaner or your toothbrush to clean your tongue.

6) Use of a fluoride mouthwash: It helps strengthen tooth enamel but should be taken care that you don’t swallow it. The best time to use mouthwash is before you go to bed. Follow the directions on the bottle.

7) Avoid snacking in between every interval also avoid sugary or sticky foods. As they tend to stick onto the tooth enamel and gums.

Diet to be consumed for healthy teeth:

Apart from keeping a healthy body from head to toe, taking a few minutes to care for your mouth each day can help you establish healthy habits for a lifetime.

A healthy diet is very important for your teeth, containing fruits, vegetables, starchy foods, protien-rich food (fish, meat, eggs and lentils) and some dairy foods.
Taking care of your teeth helps prevent plaque,  which is a clear film of bacteria that sticks to your teeth.

Plaque may develop in teeth inspite of regular brushing and flossing. So it is always advised to have regular cleaning of teeth by a dentist once in every six months.
