Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
In 1969, the leaders of the Muslim world decided to form an organization for promoting solidarity. The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) meets every three years and its objective is to develop economic, social, cultural, and scientific cooperation between the Islamic countries of the world. Palestine, Afghanistan, Muslim minorities, African liberation movements and human rights are among the main issues on the OIC agenda. It also aims to form an Islamic Development Bank through which the richer Islamic countries could offer loans to the poorer ones, and a common market for the Muslim World.
The headquarters of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) are in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
