Harare: South Africa won the toss and elected to field against Australia.

Morne Morkel and JP Duminy were declared fit to play in the triangular series final against Australia and both would have a job to do in the first half after AB de Villiers won the toss and opted to bowl, as he has done previously in the series. South Africa will be looking to claim a first tournament trophy off Australia, a team they have never beaten in the final of a multi-team series before.

De Villiers’ reason for fielding first had less to do with the early turn on offer, that has been around throughout the series, and more with the possibility of something for the seamers. A new pitch will be used for this match and it promises bounce and carry, and could flatten out in the afternoon. Australia captain George Bailey also said he was happy to bat first.

South Africa chose to go into the game with two specialist spinners and Duminy backing up as part-timer. Their attack also included three seamers in Dale Steyn, Morkel and Wayne Parnell, with no room for any reserve players.

Australia made only one change from the XI that beat South Africa earlier this week. Kane Richardson’s side soreness ruled him out and James Faulkner took his place in the side.

Australia: 1 Aaron Finch, 2 Phillip Hughes, 3 Steven Smith, 4 George Bailey (capt), 5 Glenn Maxwell, 6 Mitchell Marsh 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 James Faulkner, 11 Nathan Lyon

South Africa: 1 Hashim Amla, 2 Quinton de Kock (wk), 3 Faf du Plessis, 4 AB de Villiers (capt), 5 JP Duminy 6 David Miller, 7 Wayne Parnell, 8 Dale Steyn, 9 Morne Morkel, 10 Aaron Phangiso, 11 Imran Tahir
