Pablo Picasso’s 1955 painting of a harem of colorfully dressed women, “Women of Algiers (Version O),” has been sold for $179.4 million on Monday at an auction in New York. It is so far the most ever paid for a work of art at auction. Previously the highest paid painting was Francis Bacon’s triptych which had fetched a price of $142.4 million two years ago.
Pablo Picasso set a record.
