Pagani Huayra Roadster coming in 2016

The other day we reported that Pagani is nearing the end of the production run for the Huayra. But that doesn't mean the automaker known for building such fast supercars will sit around twiddling its thumbs. In fact it has some big plans for the future, as revealed in exclusive correspondence with Autoblog.

In the short term, Pagani still has its work cut out for it fulfilling the orders it has taken to fill its book for the existing Huayra. Of the 100 examples it set out to create, the House that Horacio Built is currently putting together the 71st. That leaves another 29 to go, and given the pace at which it typically proceeds, fulfilling those remaining orders should take most of the rest of this year.

While it's completing those, Pagani is also working on a new factory, set to be completed this summer in June or July. The new facility, previewed in the renderings below, will be located just 20 meters (or 65 feet) from the current factory in Modena – the heart of Supercar Valley. The old factory will in turn be dedicated to the research and development department. Don't expect production to ramp up, though: Pagani spokesman Luca Venturi tells us that the company won't exceed its current production rate of 45 cars per year. "Exclusivity is one of our values," Venturi insists, "and we want to keep it."

Just what Pagani's next big project to replace the Pagani will look like, we don't know at this point, but the company has some other tricks up its finely tailored sleeves in the interim. After the coupe's production is complete, it plans to roll out the new Huayra Roadster, but don't expect to see it at the Geneva Motor Show next month: Luca tells us the drop-top supercar won't be ready to unveil until next year's show.

Before then, however, Venturi hints that it might have a surprise for its fans and customers before this year – and the Huayra's production – are done. Just what that will be remains to be seen, but there have been rumors of a more hardcore Nürburgring track edition to follow – perhaps in the wake of a Nordschleife lap record attempt. Watch this space for more.
