Newman’s Own
Paul Newman, the award-winning American actor and film director, has recently finished his chemotherapy treatment. Doctors say he only has a few more weeks to live. As Film Annex, we wanted to briefly look back at Newman's rich and prolific life as an actor, political activist, and a major philanthropist.
A world renowned actor and director, Paul Newman started his career on Broadway and later appeared in films, such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973), Exodus (1960), The Hustler (1961), Cool Hand Luke (1967), The Verdict (1982), and The Color of Money (1986).
In addition to having a successful career in the film industry, Newman was also a political activist and is an inspiring philanthropist. A strong supporter of Eugene McCarthy in 1968, Newman continued his active support for the Democratic Party until recently. In 1982, Newman founded Newman’s Own, a franchise of food products, whose donations reached $200 million by 2006. Newman is also the co-founder of the Hole in the Wall, a summer camp for seriously ill children that serves 13,000 children every year, free of charge.
Below is more detailed information about the Newman’s Own Foundation:
