LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has said that he has launched an investigation to probe the Moin’s casino case and if found guilty, a stern action will be taken against the selector.
Earlier, it was reported by media that Moin had spent a night in the casino before the West Indies match. The chief selectors’ visit to the casino raised a lot of questions about his presence in the casino before the match. Pakistan crumbled to 160 all out chasing the West Indies' 310-6 on Saturday, losing their first four batsmen for just one run, to add to the anguish of their opening defeat to arch-rivals India.
Talking to the reporters here at the Gaddafi Stadium Monday, Shaharyar said that he had launched an investigation into reports that chief selector Moin Khan visited a casino shortly before the team's disastrous defeat in the World Cup against the West Indies. He also expressed his disappointment over the incident.
"As per initial reports, Moin went there to have a meal two days before the match against West Indies and a Pakistani couple photographed him and made a video," the PCB chief said. "But we will not make anybody a scapegoat and will investigate this incident before taking any action."
Meanwhile, sources also disclosed that due to non-availability of professional masseur, Pakistani players have been facing fitness problems. The sources questioned that why the PCB didn’t send a professional masseur with the national team. “When the board can send an army of joy-riders with the team, then what was the reason behind not sending a professional masseur for the players to help them reduce their mental and physical fatigue?”
They sources also revealed that when the team management realised this issue, they asked one of the PCB official to arrange a professional masseur for the team but he, instead, brought local massager girls for the players who were immediately sent back by some sensible in the Pakistan camp. When contacted a PCB official to confirm this news, he denied such a move and admitted the management was looking for the professional masseur which would be arranged soon.”
