PERSEPHONE Web Series New Trailer and Creative Thoughts

Posted on at

Hi Everyone,

I just posted the "Official" trailer for my upcoming web series "Persephone", exclusively here on Film Annex: http://www.filmannex.com/webtv/inbytheeye/movie/persephone-trailer-2/34627

This trailer shows clips from episode 1, 2, and the creative visuals I want to bring to this story.  Early on, I decided I wanted to draw the audience in like it was a radio story, and then blur the line between that and the actual film.  At first, I thought I'd create that bridge with just the dialogue filtering through the radio speaker, then took the idea one step further and placed some of my footage on the actual radio box.  I found this great old photo of a radio - one like my grandparents used to have, and did an overlay in photoshop of our "set".  When it came time for the footage to be on the radio itself, I masked out all but the dials, and speaker and placed the shot underneath.  I love effect!  It's like opening a book and seeing the picture come to life. And I think it heightens the experience or the concept of a radio story even more.

The entire episodes will not play out in this manner, most likely just the beginnings and ends.  Except for maybe episode 3.  That episode is somewhat of a departure in style from the rest - I'm experimenting big time.  :)  I'm actually using 5 different scripts, Persephone has 3 different threads, and Hades two different threads, and we introduce the character of Althea - the one who woke Persephone from her winter sleep.  Radio reports and perhaps even old, archive war footage will come into play.  I'm not setting this in a specific year, but invoking the idea of a world in turmoil.

We're still in post on episode 1, but I hope to have it here on Film Annex in a couple of weeks!  And will post about each episode.  Thanks for stopping by!  Lisa
