Places to watch New Year Fireworks in Dubai
Downtown Dubai: Dubai’s prime spot will once again welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors eager to see one of the most inspiring displays on the planet at Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. With ideal access and viewing points from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, the Waterfront Promenade near The Dubai Fountain, and restaurants in and around The Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar, as well as Burj Park, Burj Plaza, and the various hotels in
Downtown Dubai, this is an event that every visitor and resident should experience at least once in their lifetimes. And of course, viewing is free and the metro will be running all night on 1 January to help get you home again once the celebrations are over. Visitors are advised to be in Downtown Dubai by 8pm.
The Palm Jumeirah and Madinat Jumeirah: Last year Dubai made a new world record of largest fireworks display, this year something more spectacular may happen. The fireworks display at Palm Jumeirah and The World islands will be followed by a 15 minute long awe-inspiring firework display from the iconic Burj Al Arab.
Dubai Festival City: The Creekside at Dubai Festival City will illuminate with traditional celebratory fireworks display as the clock strikes midnight. The fireworks will be accompanied by a synchronised light and water show that is sure to surprise and delight.
Dubai RTA arrangements for commuters planning to watch New Year Fireworks
Water bus: Water bus will depart from Marina Terrace station in Dubai Marina for a three-hour trip, starting at 10pm. It will anchor nearby The Palm Jumeirah Bridge for the fireworks spectacle, and return to its departure place at 1am.
Ticket price: Dh100. Children are offered 50 per cent discount and kids under two are free.
Dubai Ferry: Dubai Ferry will take off at the Marina Mall in Dubai Marina for a three-hour trip, starting at 10pm. At Burj Al Arab, it will drop anchor to allow its passengers to view the fireworks. It will return to its departure place at 1am.
Ticket price: Dh200 for Silver Class, Dh300 for Gold Class. Children are offered 50 per cent discount and kids under two are free.
Abra: Abra trip will take off at the newest marine station in Dubai: Festival City Station. From there, it will make an hour-long trip to the Dubai Creek area, which offers a generic view of the city. The trip takes off at 11pm and will be back at midnight.
Ticket price: Dh25
RTA requests that passengers to gather at least 30 minutes before take-off for all services on New Year’s Eve. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the departure stations.
