It is not really a baby made of plastic but a collodion baby that has tight, waxy, shiny skin which resembling plastic and hence it is so called. it is sue to a rare genetic disorder which is known as Lamellar Ichthyosis. One in six lakh people are normally affected by this disorder.  A woman in Amritsar of Punjab has given birth to such a baby. The prognosis is very bad as a collodion baby starts developing cracks soon after birth and the baby’s membrane peels off on its own within 15 to 30 days after birth.
