Bouncer Chronicles reports Pope Francis recently told his loyal parishioners that he held a variety of odd jobs before embracing the call of priesthood. As a young college student in Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Bergoglio as known back then swept floors, ran tests in a chemical lab and even worked as a night club bouncer to help make extra money.
His holiness detailed the roundabout path to the priesthood after a visit to a church near Rome, Italy. The revelations about Francis’ humbled past added to his reputation as an “everyman Pope” who has turned down many of the luxuries traditionally afforded to Pontiffs.
