Check Out This Cool Poster for Paul Thomas Anderson's Doc 'Junun'

Junun

Premiering at the New York Film Festival tonight is the new documentary from Paul Thomas Anderson. Yep, he made a documentary in the last year, but it's only 54 minutes long (more, more!). The doc is about his friend and collaborator Jonny Greenwood, who he follows to the Mehrangarh Fort in India to be hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur. Greenwood was there to record an album with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur, and an amazing group of local artists. The doc is said to capture that experience and the music and is "pure magic". Check out this fan-made poster art made to look like a vintage portrait of the Maharaja.

Nifty Illustrated Poster for 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse'

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Always bring protection. Now this is a damn good poster. Paramount has unveiled a new poster for the horror comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, once known as Scouts vs Zombies, directed by Christopher Landon about a trio of scouts who take on a town of zombies. The first trailer for this arrived just last month, and it actually looked pretty fun, better than I was expecting. The cast includes Halston SageLogan MillerElle EvansLukas Gage, and Joey Morgan. The movie better live up to the likes of this poster and deliver on the epicness. We don't know who the artist is, but hopefully we'll find out soon.

Katniss Flies on Final Poster for 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2'

Mockingjay - Part 2

Nothing can prepare you for the end. Bold tagline. Lionsgate has released the flashy final poster artwork for Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, the conclusion and grand finale in theHunger Games series that started in 2012. This poster features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, flying with her bow and arrow and glorious red armor, with a flaming mockingjay appearing behind her. I really like the poster just before this, with the blue mockingjay on her shoulder, but this one is the sort of epic grand finale poster they need to end with. It's worth checking out as we count down these last few weeks before release.

Gorgeous Illustrated Stanley Kubrick Poster Series by Max Temescu

Kubrick Poster Art

"The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can retain interest as it conveys emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle." Every day is a good day to watch a Stanley Kubrickmovie. And if you need any inspiration, this excellent poster set from Max Temescu should help give you an idea of what to watch. Max has designed a series of illustrated posters for 11 Kubrick movies, and I really love the designs. Sure, there have been plenty of great Kubrick posters over the years, but the work here is impressive. My favorites are the usual suspects: A Clockwork Orange2001 and Dr. Strangelove. See below.

Sleek Promo Banners for Sam Mendes' Next Bond 'Spectre' Unveiled

Spectre Banner

Bond is back! There's now two months left until the new James Bond movie hits theaters, and I'm starting to get really excited. So is the movie studio, as they're continuing to release more and more marketing to get us in the mood for some spy action. A set of new promo banners have debuted for Sam Mendes' Spectre, the 24th Bond movie, once again starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007. The official poster with Bond is his tux debuted a few weeks ago, but this new poster also features Léa Seydoux (as Madeleine Swann) at his side. And there's also the masked skeleton character seen in Mexico showing up again, too. Is that Blofeld?

The First Order on New Banners for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It's Star Wars mania! Today is "Force Friday" and Lucasfilm has announced/launched toys and goodies and tons of new items for the fans to go crazy over. Found amidst all the buzz and reveals are three new promo banners for Star Wars: The Force Awakens – full-size "quads" (like from the UK), rather than actual posters. Which makes me believe these may just be promo banners or purchasable posters more than official art (plus, there has to be more coming from Drew Struzan). That said, it's very cool to see more imagery. The First Order stormtroopers, a sleek shot of Kylo Ren, and a nice combination of everything in the movie.

New Poster for Sam Mendes' 'Spectre' Inspired by Bond Art of Past

Spectre Poster

Live and Let Spectre. Eon Production has unveiled the latest official poster for Sam Mendes' Spectre, the latest James Bond, and the fourth Bond starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007. This time, Craig puts on a very daper white tuxedo standing with his pistol at the ready, in a classic James Bond pose front and center. To give this shot some context, they toss in that creepy skeleton guy in the background. My first thought is Live and Let Die, which is most likely the nostalgic connection they're going for. The result is a very eye-catching, appealing poster. And I can't wait to see the movie, too. I love the way they've been marketing this so far.

Check Out This Fantastic Poster for Jeremy Saulnier's 'Green Room'

Green Room

Nobody leaves. This poster rules! Thanks to a tip from our good friends @TheFilmStage, a new poster has debuted for Jeremy Saulnier's film Green Room. Saulnier is the filmmaker who brought us the breakout indie revenge thriller Blue Ruin, and this is his latest feature. It's about a young punk rock band, comprised of Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots (seen above), who find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon some skinheads. The film is apparently extremely violent, but earned rave reviews at its Cannes premiere. Saulnier also got an upgrade on the cast - Patrick Stewart, Alia Shawkat, Mark Webber are all in this, too. That's probably why this isn't being pushed as a main poster, but damn is it still a fine poster.

Check Out Mondo's Poster Art for Craig Zobel's Sci-Fi 'Z for Zachariah'

Z for Zachariah

After the end of the world she thought she was alone. She was wrong. Now playing in select theaters in the US is the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama Z for Zachariah, starring Margot Robbie as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor and Chris Pine. Set in a secluded valley following a nuclear holocaust, the film follows Robbie as a lone survivor keeping a farm maintained to survive. Suddenly she comes across Chiwetel Ejiofor, and takes him in. Later, Chris Pine finds them, and it becomes an interesting relationship at the end of the world. To promote the film's opening, Mondo has unveiled a new poster by artist Marc Aspinall. I always like seeing unique posters that imagine things differently. For example, the logo on this is cool. See this film! It's good.

New Poster for Danny Boyle's 'Steve Jobs' Film Premiering Very Soon

Steve Jobs Film

Universal has debuted a poster for Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs film, which is about to premiere and start earning real buzz with critics/journalists. I've heard from numerous places that the film will be premiering at the Telluride Film Festival over Labor Day, and it will also play at the New York Film Festival in October. We've already seen a couple of trailers so far, and it looks way better than I was expecting, though I'm very curious to see how much of an influence Boyle had. Since I'm perhaps more intrigued by Sorkin's script than anything else. Michael Fassbender plays the iconic black-turtleneck-wearing tech innovator Steve Jobs.

Fallen Snow on a Huge 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' Banner

Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

Don't mess with Katniss. As noted by the marketing team at Lionsgate, today marks the fifth anniversary of the original release of Suzanne Collins' final Hunger Games book that ends it all, Mockingjay. To keep fans excited for the upcoming release of Mockingjay - Part 2, Lionsgate has launched yet another new viral "microsite" located at Squad451. Found on there is a giant promotional banner for the movie, featuringJennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Sam Claflin as Finnick, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Natalie Dormer as Cressida, plus a few others. Katniss stands defiantly atop a demolished, fallen statue of President Snow, which is the coolest part about this banner. View in full below.

Here's All the Character Posters from Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight'

The Hateful Eight

"Move a little strange, you're gonna get a bullet. Not a warning, not a question, a bullet." Time to meet all eight of the untrustworthy bounty hunter vermin shacked up under one roof in a blizzard during Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. From the "Bounty Hunter" himself, to "The Hangman" and his "Prisoner", to "The Sheriff" and "The Mexican", as well as "The Little Man", "The Cow Puncher" (my favorite name) and of course, "The Confederate". Th first teaser for The Hateful Eight just came out last week and they've been revealing each of these posters day-by-day, one for each of the "eight". Now we can get a good look at all of them together. I like these, but nothing tops that blue Comic-Con poster art for Hateful Eight. Your choice?

Official US Poster for Zhang Yimou's Moving Film 'Coming Home'

Coming Home Poster

"Emotionally Powerful. Richly Nuanced." Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled the official US poster forZhang Yimou's Coming Home, a very moving, emotional drama about two lovers in China trying to remember each other. Lu and Feng are a devoted couple forced to separate when Lu is arrested and sent to a labor camp as a political prisoner during the Cultural Revolution. He finally returns home only to find that his wife cannot remember him, though he desperately tries to make her remember. I really love this film, and I just want to support it and remind people that it's finally hitting US theaters coming later this fall. There have been plenty of trailers already - seen herehere & here - plus my review from Cannes last year.

Check Out Drew Struzan's Poster for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Yes! Here it is, all of a sudden from the halls of D23, comes the first official poster for Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And it is artwork by Drew Struzan – the legend, the master of all posters, the one-and-only, the irreplaceable. The first photos showing up are coming from the D23 Expo where the poster is being handed out to lucky fans who happen to get there hands on one. The poster artwork featuresJohn Boyega as Finn (with lightsaber!!), Daisy Ridley as Rey, plus Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, each one brandishing a weapon. Harrison Ford as Han Solo also shows up, but no Chewie, oddly. I really like this poster, simple and sleek, what Struzan is best at. Wish I could get one. Another Star Wars legend returns.
