Present Perfect Tense...

Present Perfect tense is the third form of Present Tense.

Definition...

In present perfect tense we express the completed action in past but the action that is completed in a short time before now .

Structure:-

Present Perfect tense have following structure.

  • Subject + helping verb + verb + object.

In Present Perfect tense we use two helping verbs.

  1. Has

"Has" is used with He, she, it, singular name.

    2.   Have

"Have" is used with We, I, they, you and singular name.

 

We use 3rd form of verb.

Positive Sentences...

In positive sentences we use helping verb ("Has","Have") and third form of verb.

For example...

  • Sara has gone to school.

In this sentence we used helping verb "has" because "Sara" is a singular name.

 

  • We have done our work.

In this sentence we used helping verb "have" because "we" is subject.

Negative Sentences...

 

In negative sentences we use "not"  after helping verb.

 

For example...

  • Sara has not gone to school.

In this sentence we used  "not"  after "has" to make the negative sentences.

 

  • We have not done our work.

In this sentence we used "not"  after  "have" to make the negative sentences.

Interrogative Sentences...

 

In interrogative sentences we simply put helping verb at the start of the sentence and at the end we use question mark (?).

For example...

  • Has Sara  gone to school?
  • have we  done our work?

  • We have copied your work

        We have not copied your work.

        Have we copied your work?

 

  • You have left the home.

         You have not left the home.

         Have you left the home?

 

  • The guest has arrived.

         The guest has not arrived.

         Has the guest arrived?
