Princess Elizabeth Makes Her First Radio Appearance

Posted on at

On October 13th 1940, then-Princess Elizabeth made her first ever radio appearance, at age 14. She is now better known as Queen Elizabeth II.

Princess Elizabeth spoke on BBC's Children's Hour, regarding children who had been evacuated from the cities, as many had already, and more would follow. At that time, the princess was herself living in Windsor Castle, as her mother had stated that they, she, and the King would not leave the country.

At the end of the programme, the 10 year old Princess Margaret also spoke.
