The world first windmill was invented by Heron of Alexandria in the 1st Century (AD) which powered an organ (musical instrument).
The first practical windmill was invented by the Persians in the 9th Century.
Structure
It consists of three larger and wider fans, blades which catch the wind.
It is mainly composed of iron or wood.

It only works when there is a wind blowing in that area, it helps to rotate the fan/blades which in turn run the generator and then it produces energy which is stored and then supply to many houses.
