The Purefoods Star Hotshots is a professional basketball team currently playing in the Philippine Basketball Association since1988. The team is owned by San Miguel Pure Foods Company, Inc. (formerly, Pure Foods Corporation), a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the San Miguel Beermen.
The franchise remains as one of the most popular teams in the PBA[1] and currently holds thirteen PBA titles. The player most identified with the Purefoods franchise was Alvin Patrimonio, who led the franchise (playing as Purefoods) to six championships in the 1990s and early 2000s, and was named Most Valuable Player four times. Patrimonio retired in 2004 to concentrate more on his duties as team manager for his team.
The Hotshots also became the fourth team in PBA history to win the Grand Slam in the 2013-14 season.
