Queen's Nest

Queen's Nest - a small house located on the harbor breakwater near Lighthouse Carol 1. Villa would be inhabited by Queen Elizabeth - Carmen Sylva who loved the great untold and Constanta. Queen's Nest was designed by architect Victor Stephănescu after Queen drawings. The technical side was busy engineer Anghel Saligny. Vila inaugurated in 1911 had a simple form reminiscent of a boat castle.Downstairs were the guard room and upstairs Queen rooms and a lounge for guests. Above the stage was set terrace where Regina on ships arriving in port. Two years after the death of Queen villa is abandoned for 1927 is heavily destroyed by fire. In 1928 by order of Queen Mary by architect Stephănescu villa was rebuilt, this time using concrete and masonry, new construction, with art deco elements is much different from the first nest of Queen. After the communist regime villa is used as a storeroom and then as office building. Then much of the building is demolished. After 1990 Queen's Nest is rebuilt, but the new building is a reference to the old building and not a replica. Just a beam remembers building built in 1928, is the only part of the old building which was used to the new one.Today the building houses the Museum of Constanta Port.
