Rangana Herath picked up seven wickets as Sri Lanka defeated India by 63 runs in the first Test in what can be termed as one of the most dramatic turnarounds in recent memory.

India, were set a victory target of 176 runs and were demolished for 112 in their second innings after lunch on the fourth day to give Sri Lanka the lead in the three-match series 1-0.

Dinesh Chandimal is the Man of the Match. Chandimal: "It was not an easy wicket to bat on. I tried reverse-sweeps and sweeps. I thought I could put some pressure on the bowlers. I tried to rotate the strike. Credit goes to Sangakkara, Mathews, Thirimanne and Mubarak as well. They batted well. I thought 175-plus might be a good total. (Herath) is outstanding. We all know he is a legend."
